Fund Raising Event,

SOHA.ES has organised another fund raising event on the 17th of April at Moreno's Bar.

Next general meeting is on Wednesday 17th of February at the camping restaurant at 19.30. We look forward to seeing you there.

Protest March, Malaga is go...

MARCH IN MALAGA IN 2010 to coincide with the meeting of the EU held at the Palacios de Congresos.

You may be aware that Spain has taken over the Presidency of the European Union for the first six months of 2010 and we wish to take advantage of their holding a Ministers meeting in Malaga also on the 17th March.

We have already canvassed our Full Members to determine their level of support and I'm pleased to say that the Demonstration will definitely go ahead. We now need each and every one of you to stand up and be counted. I know that many of you have many reasons for not playing a more active role in the work of SOHA.ES and in fact, many of our Friends of SOHA.ES don't even own a property or live in Spain. However, in order for this Protest to be a success we are asking each and every one of you to do your utmost to take part and to try and persuade as many other people as possible to attend. A lot more detail will be provided as we get closer to the day but right now the basics are as follows:

Coaches will be provided at a cost of €6 per head, picking up and dropping off locally. Tickets may need to be bought in advance.

The coaches will leave in the morning to arrive for a lunchtime demonstration. Possibly some of the buses will return directly after the protest (early afternoon) with others staying until later for those wishing to shop and explore Malaga directly after the event.

Placards and banners will also be provided although demonstrators will be asked to bring their own whistles and other noise-making devices (making as much noise as possible is the Spanish way of protesting)

The only thing that we need right now is your pledge to support the event. There is a great momentum building and we believe that SOHA.ES can make very significant progress this year in resolving our housing/legality problems (full details will be available at the AGM on the 17th February) but we cannot continue to do it on our own.

This is our chance to show the public how we feel and bring our problems to the attention of the national and international media.

Protest march In Almeria Monday 11th of January 2010

URGENT

This message has been sent to us via our friends from Auan as there are more demolitions planned in Almeria and Albox areas starting from the 12th of Januray 2010!!!

We need to support this event as numbers are very important. Members and friends of SOHA.ES should receive an email shortly asking them to take part.

December 2009

SOHA.ES (Save Our Homes Axarquia) held a Fund-raising Quiz on Friday 4th December which was extremely well supported.

There were over a hundred entries and the night began with everybody doing their intellectual stretches by drinking alcohol and eating chicken and chips !!

The quiz itself was closely fought until the final whistle at around 11.30pm.

The top three places were eventually decided and the winners were,

1st - Help

2nd - Campo Guerillas

3rd - Beer Today And Gone Tomorrow.

SOHA.ES would like to thank everyone who attended including those who contributed prizes to the raffle.

The night raised €364 which was a great effort on top of a very enjoyable night.

We also managed to recruit an additional dozen or so Friends of SOHA.ES which was an added bonus.

Jane Slade, a journalist with the Sunday Express, would be at the Camping Bar Restaurant with her photographer husband to talk to members about their problems on Sat Dec 5th at 10.30 am. We need members present who are happy to be in a write up.
